Basma al-Sharif is a Palestinian filmmaker and artist whose work confronts the violence of taxonomic representation endured by Palestinian life over time. Her films Ouroboros (2017) and Deep Sleep (2014), presented in the "moving in riot" tribute at Biennale 9, are composed of the symbiosis of beauty and destruction, challenging politics and the didacticism of stereotypical representations while studying the cycle of trauma involving both protagonists and spectators.
